Re: Motor whining, needs replacement

I've PM'd around 20 people from this forum who have suffered the travails of a failed drive unit, and asked them to reach out to me if they would like to add their voice as we collectively approach MB, or litigation, if necessary, to try to get MB to address this safety and cost issue. I am also tak...

Re: B250e shaking in drive

Any progress on this? I'm guessing you need a new motor. Mine was doing the same thing, and is now in shop. They are saying new drive unit at a cost of $21k.

Another Bad Motor-Class Action

Here we go again. I have two 2014 BEDs. In 2017 both of them had the drive motors replaced under warranty due to the whining problem, at around 18K miles. Now one of those is getting a "Without starting return to workshop" error, and is a bit jerky when driving. Dealership says it is the drive unit,...

Re: Dangerous Brake Failure

I also get the lurching sometimes immediately after stopping. Shop said this was normal behavior. Yeah, normal maybe, but still ain't right. When the braking has failed, it has been on smooth dry surface. I've had this car in the shop for non-scheduled maintenance 13 times since I bought it, with a ...

Dangerous Brake Failure

Hi all, I wanted to check to see if anyone has experienced a brake issue I occasionally have in my 2014 BED. A couple of years ago, I was exiting the highway, foot lightly on brake, car in regen braking mode. All of a sudden, the car went into the thrust mode (arrow indicating charge direction turne...

Re: Motor whining, needs replacement

We have two 2014 BEDs. As mentioned above, one of them suffered from a buzzy motor, which was replaced. Update to the story is that not long after that, the other BED started to make the same buzzing noise, which got louder over time. After a month at MB, that car has now come home with a new motor....

Re: Motor whining, needs replacement

They had mine for pretty close to 4 months to replace to the motor for the milling noise. Just got it back a couple weeks ago, and it is *so* quiet. Also had a problem with the center console USB charger not having any power. They ended up having to replace the entire COMAND unit. All in, the bill t...

Re: Motor whining, needs replacement

One of my 2014's went in with a whiny noise. Similar to others, it is first noticeable accelerating through about 20 mph, especially next to a wall or parked cars. It gets louder over time. The sound is more grating on your hearing than the usual high pitch motor whine; hard to describe. Anyways, th...

Re: Without restarting, consult workshop

My car just came out after a week and a half in the shop for a 12V battery issue. I got the visit workshop-do not drive message, except that it had a picture of the 12V battery. In the manual, it says for that icon, do not drive the car, and do not tow the car. I guess one is supposed to just sit th...

Re: Brake Issue

Well, they were unable to duplicate the issue, but MB did instruct the tech to do a software update to the regenerative braking module. So far, so good. It will also be interesting to see whether this update fixes the ever-present secondary jerk after stopping.
