Quirky indeed. If one takes her 30mph and divides into 20K miles per year, that works out to "only" driving 28 days a year. Using that form of analysis, no car is driven enough to own. Ah what it must be like to live in eco conscious Europe. A different outlook on energy usage.

For me, it is convenience and a lifetime exemption from public transport after commuting on it for over 35 years. I traded speed and cost for comfort, quiet and convenience. Of course, I completely ignore traffic jams, limited street parking, pesty pedestrians, parking tickets, and the occasional flat tire.

Would I consider a nice on demand car, sure, I do use Uber and Via from time to time.

Maybe my view is biased because I own 3 cars, live in the city, and do most of the driving. Hm.
