Wear and tear on engine block/charge unit

Hi there, anyone familliar what could be the reason for the wear on the picture attached? I’m looking at buying a used B250e and this is visible on one of the pictures and i can’t make sense of how this wear could have occurred?

No prior report of such a phenomenon on this forum. On the rare occasions when I have opened my hood, no such wear and tear. You should have a MB dealer inspect the car for you in any case before you buy it as it needs to be plugged in to check the state of the battery, past error messages, if the safety recall and latest software is on it. Then ask them about the motor as I am suspicious that someone swapped it from another unit. There is really no corrosive liquids in the front end. You want to be sure that whatever the cause, it does not void any remaining warranty on this car.
