Hi all,

Trying to determine difference between two VINs on seemingly identical cars:
WDDVP9AB2FJ0049xx
WDDVP9AB6FJ0050xx

Both appear to be same year, same feature sheet, same interior and exterior trim levels and colors.

Any ideas? Sales person keeps pushing to lower VIN obviously, though wondering if that highlighted 2 vs 6 means something.

Thanks, Mike

MB, not that I know anything which I don't but a google search implies that digit is a "check digit" which typically means a number that allows a check whether other numbers have been inputted correctly. In of itself, it means nothing. The only other moving parts seems to be the last two digits.

"The last six digits, 12 through 17, are production sequence numbers, although small manufacturers that make fewer than 500 cars per year use the 12th, 13th and 14th digits as additional manufacturer identification codes. Production sequence numbers identify the vehicle itself, sort of like a serial number."

So nothing here. You might check both VINs to see if either is subject to the recall. See other post for website link.

Thanks Jeff.

The 4K number has had the recall done according to dealer. Going to see it tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Cheers, Mike
