    Few Questions on the 2017 B 250e

Well again looking at leasing/buying another EV. We have 2 EV's, (eGolf and B-Class), the B-class lease is up in April and the eGolf in August. Original plan was for 2 Tesla Model 3's, but I would like to have one hatchback for the runs to Home Depot and the cost of 2 model 3 will be quite...

Where is Battery and Motor made

The assembled Battery and Motor are from Tesla. If you look closely on some of the hoses in the engine compartment you will see Tesla printed on them. The battery cells are from Panasonic.

    Charging speed

I don't believe the charging limitations from the car effect the 240 volt charging. Regardless you should be able to set the charging to maximum from the set up screens in the car. I regularly charge at 9.4KWH which is the max the MB B class will accept. This is with a 240 volt, 40 amp charger.

Winter is around the corner; performance differences

Ah yes winter again.... I pretty much completely ignore the GOM so not sure if it accounts for the extended charge. Trust me it is guessing way low. One trick in the winter time is to charge just before you leave. It helps warms the battery. On short trips the efficiency is pretty bad...

I just got stuck paying $424 for my 1st annual service ???

Copying my earlier post on this subject in another thread. Do no go to the dealer without having this agreed in writing. They will feel no motivation to do anything for you once the car is there. Guys, the battery annual certification is no charge. See below my strategy for dealing...

    B-Class range update

One thing I have noticed with the B-class now that the weather is warmer is I am getting better range and efficiency this year than last. Likely the motor and drive train have loosen up a bit. My battery certification showed no degradation. 28.2 Kwh. I just did a trip last weekend. 67...

Annual Battery Certification No Charge- Mercedes Nanuet, NY

wtzouris - I sent him your invoice. My service ended up being $60 so better he used yours. They wore me down claiming the desiccant was no charge but the battery certification was chargeable. Does anyone have a copy of the warranty card saying the annual certification is no charge. I...

    B250 Owner's reliability experiences

10,000 miles on my car and no noticeable range or battery degradation. -Annual Battery Certification at the dealer gave me the capacity of the battery @ 28.2 Kwh. This is only 1% degradation in the first year assuming the starting point was 28.5 Kwh. -My EVSE can measure the amount of...

[Need Advice] - Buying 2014 Used

My residual value on my 2014 MB electric lease with 30K miles in 2018 will be 22K so this seems fair but I think you could do better. Doubtful I will buy it as I have a reservation on a Tesla Model 3. My 2012 Focus had a residual of $21.5K. I did not buy, just turned it back in. I have...

    B-Class range update

As has been stated many many times on this forum the GOM is completely wrong even when reset. The consumption meter on the MB seems to calculate a wall to wheels consumption which is somewhere between 15-20% low. This is throws off the GOM. Proof of this is if you take your nominal...

    10,000 Mile Service

Guys, the battery annual certification is no charge. See below my strategy for dealing with the MB dealer. -Made the appointment 2 weeks in advance. Requested only recalls and annual battery certification. The rest of the "maintenance" is just simple checks. -emailed the customer...

The App is a POS, and so is the Customer Service

Just downloaded the iPhone app. Works and looks great. Many settings for notifications on charge levels etc. I had been using the EV access on an old android just using wifi. Very happy to have on my iPhone which is my "everyday" phone. Unbelievable the junk the MB puts out there. How...

    Tesla Model 3

The B class was always my bridge to the Model 3. Current lease is up April 2018, I can even wait more time as I have an older ICE car I can use if the model 3 is not delivered by then. I will reserve on March 31, still not sure if I will take the day off and go to the store or if I will wait...

    Experience Thus Dar

A few questions: -Where are you located? -Are you just looking at the Mileage meter (GOM) or are you actually only able to drive the car 60 miles? -What is the readout for consumption in Miles/Kwh in you trip meter? I have 3 electric cars and the MB has the best range. Unfortunately the...

READ THIS before you buy or lease the MB B EV

Well you still have drive shafts and CV boots. I do agree the maintenence is much less, and plan to do the same as you. And remember the yearly battery certification from MB is free as has been posted elsewhere on this forum. I have to do mine in Apr for the first time.

TOU (Time of Use) rates with electric co

I am on TOU rate with 2 Electric cars. I live in NJ. Off Peak Rate = $0.09 On Peak Rate = $0.19 Peak is M-F 8am-9pm. With the cars charging at night I never use more than 20% peak Kwh. 80% of my Kwh is off peak. So my blended rate is $0.11 = 0.09*0.8+0.19*0.2 My old non tiered rate was...

Protecting the battery from degrading in cold weather

If you watch some of Jeff Dahn video you will understand cold storage is actually good for the battery but cold operation is tough on the battery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qi03QawZEk The main reason they have you plug in so it is warm for operation. If you are not using you should...

Using brake pedal vs. D modes

D- around town. Try to mostly drive with one petal and avoid the brake unless I need to. I know the brake will also add regen but it is hard to know how much is the friction brakes and how much is regen. D+ on the high way as I don't want the car accidentally going into regen unless I really...

    Heated windshield replacement??

I would go to the dealer on this one. This is too specialized due to limited number of B class here. I believe this windshield (heated) is only in the b-class electric so you are going to have a hard time with aftermarket or canada. On the plus side your comprehensive insurance should...

Winter is around the corner; performance differences

I agree with the range hit on cold weather short range driving but it is not as bad on longer trips once the battery is warmed up. Did a trip last weekend. Start temp 42 Degrees End Temp 48 Degrees Extended Charge before leaving. 86 Miles Round Trip End Battery State 21% I was a little...
