Has anyone found an OBD2 reader that works?

My car has just recently indicated that a "visit to the workshop" is in order. I imagine this is the Mercedes version of a check engine light.

I tried two OBD2 adapters (wifi and bluetooth) and apps on both Android and iPhone. I also visited an auto parts store and they tried to connect. No luck with any of these. TorquePro gave the clearest message, indicating successful connection to the adapters, but no response from the car's ECU.

Has anyone found an OBD2 reader that works? And did it show anything useful?

I just wanted to update my original post, in case anyone else was tempted to experiment with these OBD2 readers. I have tried four so far, none would connect at all:

One uses Wi-Fi, three use BlueTooth. The "HH OBD Advanced" wouldn't connect to anything (but only costs $11). The other three all connected to my 2015 VW Eos fine. The Lemur Bluetooth ("BlueDriver") costs $100 but is very slick and has tech support, firmware updates, etc. They actually listed our car as being compatible, but it is not.

I'll try and delve a bit deeper and report back. I know there won't be a ton of data at the OBD port, but even a little might be fun.

Have you looked at the OVMS - Open Vehicle Management System? (https://www.openvehicles.com/helpmev2) while yer again the B250e is not on the list of cars supported, I suspect that using the any vehicle option may work. It is an expensive piece of kit, but is Open Source and developed by EV owners... you can also watch this how to video...https://youtu.be/Z9Fsbvd1Kfg

About OVMS, I just started a thread in their own forum: http://api.openvehicles.com/node/2413
OVMS seems to be more about remote control and live data, than diagnostics. If it ever supported my car, it would be replacement for the MB cloud, which is too unreliable..

Carista OBD module does not find anything with their own SW (even their web page says something else). Also generic ELM327 functionality of this adapter does not work out of box with B250E.
