The only way to test this is to have a 59A evse and not tell the pilot to use 40A. Otherwise the car will limit itself to the pilot setting as per the J1772 STANDARD.
You need enough current and you need to allow the car charger to set itself... To me it is not worth it. That said my current car charges at 28.5A
