Has anyone seen this message that appears in the Dash near speedometer. The message says "Service Required Do Not Shift Gears Visit Dealer." The car is brand new with less than 500 miles. The car still drives normally and the message will disappear once restarted. I had noticed a common theme of when the car was parked outside and not in a garage. The message has popped up several times. I have had trouble contacting Mercedes to inquire if I needed to bring in, had poor to no response. I am taking car in Thursday.

I would show picture if I new how.

I thought there was a software update that fixes that. It should have been done before delivery since your car is new.

If your car allows E+ mode on the dash when pushing the E/S button then you don't have the latest software loaded.

Our 2015 has the same issue along with an occasional non-responsive keyless go (READY light doesn't come on) in the morning. It is at the dealer now. They said there was an update they were doing for it as well as installing our front license plate holder.

I had a similar message but kept driving straight to deal since in theory I was not supposed to even put in into Park. They checked and likely reset things. Has not repeated. Yes, the E+ no longer shows up either.

I had the same. Reset from the steering wheel while driving. Never came back. Did not seem to effect function as I was using the +/- paddles etc. My car still has the E+ mode so it was not updated on delivery.

I wonder some time if I accidentally hit the "park" button while using the paddles that caused this. The manual says the car will not go into park while moving, but I am too chicken to try to duplicate again. I am still getting used to the shifter stalk and do not find it natural at all. I am still driving my other cars with regular shifters so this does not help the cause.

Just got back our 2015 from the dealer. They said they did the update and actually wrote starting instructions on the repair order. It says to sit in vehicle and hold foot on brake. It then says to press the start button like you would press a doorbell and the ready light with appear. By the way, after the update, our E+ still works so they must have a different update for the '15's. .

Finally got a call back. Apparently needed a software update. Why the would release a car without is unknown. I think the fix did the trick. Thanks everyone for the responses. I learned something else. Apparently there is a proprietary cable to plug in you iPod that is supposed to come with the car. I would have never known I did not get one unless I did not see in loaner.

After the update maximum miles shows as 91 up from 71 to 74.

I've seen this a couple of times, and it has never been a real issue. I think the vehicle with the standard base software is a little sensitive about when you try to shift from reverse to drive while moving. Once I figured that out, and made sure I was nearly stopped before making that shift, the error messages have not occurred since.

Just like rdavis, I have seen this a few times. And I totally ignore it, I turn off the car and turn it back on again, that's all. I'm not going to the dealer unless I have to. That's why I did not buy an i3.

My car has been perfect otherwise, 4000 miles on the odometer.
